Rik Thomas, or "Ricky Len" to the family, goes where he is needed, playing guitar, mandolin, etc., but always adding his finely-honed harmony skills to the cousinly chorus, not to mention his soulful leads. He and brother Bill were raised in Macomb, Illinois, the son of a Spanish professor at Western Illinois University. There Rik earned a degree in music, and to this day he can sing an Italian aria that makes the ladies faint and the gents jealous. Before settling in his ancestral Ozarks home of Spokane, he provided lead vocals for bands in his previous residences of Austin, Texas and Wyoming. When he's not playing with Big Smith, he's playing with his daughter and son, Cady Renee and Andrew, and exploring the woods around his home for various critters, only some of which he shoots for pleasure.
